- Quarter 3 Ends on Friday, March 24! Please check in with your students and encourage them to complete any outstanding assignments by their teachersâ deadlines.
- 2023-2024 Re-enrollment Agreements: Re-enrollment agreements for students in grades 9-11 have been sent out via TADS. Please check your email and reach out to Justine with any questions. To guarantee your student’s space for next year, please complete your agreement by March 31, 2023. Families who have not re-enrolled by the deadline will be asked to do so at parent conferences on 4/14. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Justine.
- Calendar Change – Parent Conferences Moved to 4/14: In partnership with the Committee of 70, Cosmic Writers has invited Revolution School students to participate in a conference to mobilize high schoolers to use their voices to impact the upcoming mayoral election. There are so many high schoolers who feel passionate about impacting their cityâs politics but arenât able to vote yet. The goal of the conference is to show students how they can use writing to make their opinions heard. The conference will feature a keynote speaker, a catered lunch, and 8-10 writing workshops on different genres of impact-focused writing. To participate in this great opportunity, March 31 will now be a regular school day. Parent conferences will now take place after spring break on Friday, April 14. Please note the change on your calendars and stay tuned for conference sign ups.Â
- Junior and Senior Families – SAVE THE DATE: Prom has been confirmed on Wednesday, May 24, at the Bellevue Hotel from 7-11pm. In the meantime, we are seeking a DJ and photo booth for the event. If you know anyone who can provide these services, or if you would like to be involved in the planning, please contact jeanne@revolutionschool.org. Stay tuned for more information about purchasing tickets for the big night!
- Counseling Services: As we enter 2023, we are happy to share that we are partnering with Dr. Argie Allen, Connections Matter, and Drexel University to provide affordable access to mental health resources for our students and families. Drexel Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy (DUCFT) recently reopened at a new location in the New College Building (245 N. 15th Street Suite 1120, Philadelphia, PA 19102) on January 9, 2023. The fee for service is based on household income using a sliding scale, so individuals and families can access care if they do not have insurance, need a more affordable fee, or prefer not to use their insurance. - Academic Probation Policy: In an effort to best support our students and ensure timely graduation, we have introduced an Academic Probation Policy. Starting this quarter, students will be placed on academic probation if more than one academic grade is below a C. Probation will last for at least four weeks or until students demonstrate satisfactory improvement. Without improvement, student enrollment at Revolution School may be in jeopardy. All students on Academic Probation must:
- Â Attend ASSET or forfeit outside lunch privilege 3 days per week for study time and support. We will post a weekly sheet for accountability.Â
- Meet with teachers regularly to review outstanding assignments and receive extra support.Â
- Leverage time before school and during study pods to work productively and seek support as needed.Â
- Attend a weekly family check-in with your advisor.
Congratulations to Mae on her award-winning cat treat project at the 2023 George Washington Carver Science Fair! Her conclusion–cats prefer holistic cat treats because they are softer in texter!
 The whole school enjoyed a matinee of All My Mothers Dreams in Spanish. Students have been reading the script in English class, meanwhile, the 11/ 12 students are finishing a book that also focuses on Afro-Latino history and connects to the play.Â
Today’s trip to FDR Park to conduct water testing and learn about the history of the park.

- Credential Pathway Program Options for Revolution Students 2022-2023Â
- Paying for College in Four Steps: While understanding everything that goes into college affordability is quite a feat, the basics of successfully paying for college can be boiled down to four steps.
- Parents of Seniors: Please complete the FAFSA financial aid form. This is the best way for most families to get up to $18,000 toward the cost of college. Details are here. - Scholarship List: Students can also apply for merit scholarships to help defray college costs. Here is a list of trusted websites for scholarship searching.
- This year, Philadelphia students have a chance to design the cover of the 2023 K-12 School Guide! The theme of this cover is, âWhat makes your school great?â This challenge provides an opportunity to reflect on their school experiences, lives as Philadelphia students, and hopes for the future. The grand prize winner will have their design featured on this yearâs 2023 K-12 School Guide in-print and online and receive a $150 gift card! Teachers get a prize, too. Submissions are due March 31st! More information here.

- Advance College Experience: ACE Your Summer Experience with Us: See what it’s like to be in college with Community College of Philadelphiaâs summer ACE (Advanced College Experience) program. ACE provides college-level courses for highly motivated students going into 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grades, as well as students up to age 21 pursuing a high school equivalency credential. Through ACE, students can explore a career interest, study timely and relevant issues, and earn college credit.Â
