What motivates you to make art?
I really like to keep my hands busy and I also just really love to create! Sometimes I’ll be inspired to make something like a cute sweater, but most of the time I’m just interested in crafting even if I’m just going to frog my stitches and start over.
What inspires you?
Other people’s creations! I spend a lot of time on Instagram, and I follow a ton of fiber arts creators, so I see a lot of interesting patterns and creations. Recently I’ve been enjoying making leg warmers. The amount of beautiful patterns out there is insane and really inspires me to continue crafting.
What is your process while making art?
I start off with something I like the look of: sometimes I’ll see a cute top or a nice pair of leg warmers on Instagram and I’ll try to make something similar! I’ll scour the internet for patterns or just make my own, then I’ll buy nice yarn for my vision and get working.
When did you start crocheting?
I started in 6th grade because I didn’t really have any hobbies at the time. I’ve always liked the idea of making my own clothes so I got right into the craft.
How would you describe your art?
Crochet as a whole is very methodical and repetitive, it involves a fair bit of math and a lot of patience, but once you get used to it you end up with a super relaxing and delightful hobby.
Is there anything else you want to say about you/your artwork?
If anyone wants to get into fiber arts, you definitely should! There’s a lively community of fiber artists online on platforms like Instagram, Ravelry, and Facebook who are all happy to engage with people new to the craft, as well as plenty of tutorials on YouTube!
