Project-Based Learning Exploration
Educator and project-based learning specialist, Ah-Keisha McCants, led students through foundational activities to reengage them with the process of project-based learning, and invited them to reflect on what it means to center learning around projects.
On Thursday, students identified and then tackled issues that are often labeled as difficult to discuss, such as race, mental health, and religion. The students broke into groups according to individual interest, asking each other important questions related to the topic, followed by a presentation of their findings to the other groups.
On Friday, the students practiced their group project skills by dividing into teams, each creating a blueprint for building a customized project. Then Ah-Keisha surprised the teams by asking them to swap blueprints so that each group had to execute another team’s vision.
