“Give students something to do, not something to learn; and the doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking; learning naturally results.”
JOHN DEWEY
In our leadership, faculty, and student body, we strive to embody the beautiful diversity of its home city of Philadelphia, deeply valuing differences in race, ethnicity, class, gender identification, sexual orientation, religion, age, and physiological ability. This allows students to feel comfortable with those who are different to themselves.
Place-based, exploratory learning is rooted in the community where it takes place. In Philadelphia, we have a city rich with history, living science, working networks, and vibrant social systems. Our program brings students to those resources rather than trying to only imitate them in a classroom building.
Our model is designed to unleash the learning that happens when students and communities come together to listen, learn and lead. Revolution School uniquely connects students across Philadelphia to problem solvers, innovative leaders, and creative thinkers and prepares them to one day step into those roles themselves.
