HIGHLIGHTS

Last night, Revolution School hosted our annual Back to School event, where families experienced firsthand what students are working on both in and beyond the classroom. We also provided more information about our upcoming move this January 2026 to PYB’s Sixth Man Center, and introduced Ameen Akbar, who is PYB’s Chief Mission Officer. We will continue to collect information and resources and will keep you in the loop regarding the transition to the new space.

We also heard from Kalle Cooper, who leads our Community Outreach efforts. She invited us to help grow RevNet — Revolution School’s network of people and places that support student learning. We’re excited to involve all of our families in this initiative, and you’ll be hearing more from Kalle soon! Thank you to all of our Revolution School families.

Grades 9 and 10 wrapped up their study of Buddhism with a visit to Kadampa Buddhist Meditation Center. They asked insightful questions about rituals, worship, and the role of women, connecting what they had learned in the classroom to what they were seeing and hearing from practicing Buddhists.

Deborah Gross, CEO and President of Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts (PMC), spoke with US History students about the court system. PMC’s mission is a Pennsylvania judicial system in which everyone who participates is assured impartiality, fairness, accessibility,  and respect. Deborah will be returning monthly with judges, lawyers, and others to lend their expertise to our studies.

In US Literature, grades 11 and 12 read and annotated Kindred by Octavia Butler.

In math, Algebra 1 students explored the connections between patterns, equations, and linear functions. Grade 10 explored conditional statements by creating comic books and slideshows for the assignment: If You Give a Mouse a Geometry Project, discovering along the way that “if you give a Geometry student a fun and interesting project, then they’ll enjoy learning math!”

Meanwhile in 11th and 12th grade math, students ran imaginary companies, paying themselves and their employees, then used the skills learned this unit to analyze their pay structure and decide, “Would I work for my company?

11th and 12th grade students visited Swarthmore College, where they were given an insider tour by alumna Sydnie Schwarz! Students got a taste of campus life — sitting in on a sociology class, dining in the hall, and exploring spaces ranging from lab classrooms to the Center for Innovation & Leadership.

Wellness

Grades 9 and 10 were able to enjoy the beautiful autumn weather at Seger Park.

SquashSmarts representatives came in to talk with our students about their amazing afterschool program.

Community-Building

At this week’s all-school assembly, our 9th-grade students led two high-energy, interactive games: Swap, a creative drawing activity where students begin a sketch that is passed to a classmate to continue the artwork; and Cone, a fast-paced reflex game, where players follow verbal commands, racing to grab a cone (or in this case a designated object) when prompted.

Kenny (Grade 9) and Grant (Grade 10) enjoy a game of chess
