Please note: We will not be hosting Presentation of Learning Days (3/23 and 3/24) but will instead be integrating this work in the spring. Stay tuned!
Mask Optional Starting This Monday
Starting Monday, we will no longer require fully vaccinated* students and staff to wear a mask. Students, staff and visitors who have not been fully vaccinated, must wear a mask at all times. We ask that families and students be respectful of everyone’s decision to wear or not wear a mask. Additionally, masks may be required for some field work locations.
We will have a 1-week mask requirement after our Spring Break to avoid a post-break surge in cases. If a new COVID variant were to come to Philadelphia or cases started to rise again, we may need to return to masking and other mitigation efforts. We also ask that all of our community members continue to be thoughtful and diligent with monitoring your health. If you are sick or symptomatic, please stay home.
*Fully vaccinated means both vaccines and boosted within 8 months of the second vaccine.

Student ARTifact Open House on Thursday
Families are welcome to come join us on Thursday, March 10 at 1:00 to view student artwork and stories on display. You’ll have a chance to walk the “museum” and hear students speak about their ARTifact!
Representatives from Broad Street Ministry spoke to us about their mission of radical hospitality for people experiencing homelessness and people reentering society after incarceration as well as upcoming volunteer opportunities. – Joel
Angela, the Building Manager of the 230 South Broad Street building, joined the Community Service Club to talk about recycling initiatives in partnership with the Revolution School students. Angela spoke to the students about her career as a the building manager. (She manages five buildings actually!) She described the job as being in middle of lots of decisions and relationships—managing the needs of the owners, tenants, security, contractors, and visitors. The students had two requests. First, the community service club asked for support to organize a canned food drive at 230 Broad Street to help fight food insecurity and hunger in Philadelphia. They got permission to put a collection bin in the lobby and deliver flyers to the other tenants in the building. Second, the Environmental club asked what would need to happen to get a basic recycling program at 230 Broad. Angela was very accommodating and is ready to help with the logistics, but first the building needs to secure a new waste removable company, something which is in the works already. – Joel & Justine
We introduced summer “REVternships” to 11th and 12th grade students this week and there was a lot of energy and excitement! Ask your students about it, and what their top choices were. A reminder that their choices might change as they collect more information and meet with the site partners over the next weeks and months. Don’t forget to join us at Monday night’s parent hour to learn more! – Jane
