Dear Revolution Families & Friends,

A very Happy New Year to everyone. I hope that your 2024 is off to a great start! The New Year serves as a powerful reminder of fresh beginnings, growth, and the potential for positive change. I am filled with gratitude for the incredible journey we continue to share as a high school community.

As I often say, each of you bring a unique perspective, talent, and rich experience that weaves into the fabric of our shared identity. As a community, we are a mosaic of backgrounds, cultures, and stories, and it is this diversity that makes us stronger, more resilient, and ultimately more connected. Thank you for being a part of Revolution School!

As a collective, let’s make a resolution to cultivate an even more inclusive, supportive, and dynamic experience at Revolution School. Let us celebrate diversity, encourage creativity, and foster a sense of community that extends beyond the classroom walls.

May the New Year bring forth opportunities for growth, success, and meaningful connections. Together, let’s make 2024 our best year yet!

Thank you for being an essential part of our mission.

With gratitude,

EXPLORATION

Our Students Are On The Move

Here is a list of some of the places we explored so far this school year: Museum of the American Revolution, The Bourse, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Fairmount Water Works, the Curtis building, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Second Bank of the US, Reading Terminal Market, Arts & Business Council, Swarthmore College, Natural Museum of Science, Morgan State, an Internal Medicine practice, AJO Vista, Philadelphia Senior Center, Keller Williams Philly, Mütter Museum, Franklin Institute, Constitution Center, Kelly Writers House, WHYY, Perelman School of Medicine, the Union League, and Broad Street Ministries for community service.

PERSONALIZATION

Five Students and two faculty members represented Revolution School at the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Student Leadership Diversity Conference in St. Louis. Our ambassadors were Hailey, Mae, Cami, Donald, and Michael. Special thanks to teachers Dirk and Syd for their leadership. This year’s theme, Bending the Arc Toward Justice: Radical Optimism, Transformational Joy, Resilience, and Brilliance was embraced by all! Upon their return, our ambassadors shared their experience with the rest of the students in two community meetings where they facilitated powerful equity conversations.

Our Partnership with Community College of Philadelphia

Revolution is partnering with CCP to give our students a jump-start to college for free! All motivated Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors in good academic standing (all grades at C or above) are eligible, and we have close to ten students taking advantage of this educational partnership.

CONNECTION

Our REVchat 2024 Launch!

Revolution School alumni Tas A, Tas AR, Maria Moore, and Sodd Whitehead — along with Peter Rickels (student at Tulane U) and Roger Lee (a program advisor) — successfully launched the REVchat Cultural Consultancy & Conversations 2024.

Our “consulting interns” meet with businesses across Philadelphia to provide feedback on company cohesiveness and culture. The goal is connecting dedicated students interested in exploring future opportunities with workplaces that are equally dedicated to making a positive impact on students’ futures. Additionally, the program aims to pay students and fund scholarships for future students. Stay tuned!

Welcome 2024!
