CELEBRATING & PLANNING

Upcoming Birthday: Sydnie Schwarz, April 3!

We wish all of our families who are preparing for a month of fasting, spirituality, and reflection for Ramadan Mubarak, this March 11 – April 11.

Calendar Highlights: March is Women’s History Month and many holidays including Ramadan, St. Patrick’s Day, Pi Day, Easter, Purim, and Holi.

Revolution Spring Recess begins today! Classes resume Monday April 1

THE REVOLUTION SPOTLIGHT

Congrats to this month’s Beable winner, Amelia Holmes, who won a $20 Target gift card for reading the most and scoring the highest on the articles she read! Beable is a program that challenges teens to improve their literacy skills while exposing them to literature that relates to their personal interests and career aspirations. Great work, Amelia!

School of Thought & MIT’s Cortico Visioning Lab: 11th and 12th grade students participated in a workshop about how human listening and machine learning can create a constructive conversation.

Field Work Details — Thursday April 4

 

Grades 9-10

Our students will be celebrating all of their hard work for the I Wish To Say Project with a book binding party! Students will have their normal lunch block and can choose to pack or buy.  

 

Grades 11-12

Our students will have their normal lunch block and can choose to pack or buy their lunch. Fieldwork details are still waiting to be confirmed and will be announced to students early the week of April 1.

Spring Speaker Series: Health Matters 2024

Up next in our series is Monday April 1: Jason Bedford — a drug and alcohol counselor with a fascinating backstorywill lead a discussion with our 9th and 10th graders. Topics will include the physical and mental effects of alcohol, addiction & sobriety, and positive lifestyle choices. For the full list of speakers, please click this link.

OPPORTUNITIES

Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Summer Academy

 

PAFA’s most rigorous program for talented teen artists, is accepting applications for their four week college-level instruction from July 8 – August 2. To be considered for the scholarship, students must apply by April 10. PAFA also offers One-Week Intensives open to all levels of artistic experience, which allow teen artists to choose their own adventure. STAMP: Students at Museums in Philly

 

Through STAMP any Philadelphia high school student can visit 20 museums and cultural sites for free. Just show your high school student ID and enjoy the STAMP discount. Here is a list of the participating museums!

FIELDWORK & COMMUNITY-BUILDING

Grades 9–10

Our students did fieldwork for environmental science at Glen Foerd, where they got a full tour of the mansion and even got to go out on a rowboat that Dirk built!

Grades 11–12

 

Destinie from Savage Sisters held a Q&A with our students about harm reduction in Philadelphia!
